Join the Open Music Lab community and find out how you can contribute to a more equitable music scene.

Become a Music Mentor

We are always looking for friendly, passionate and patient people who have a good understanding of electronic music to join OML. You do not have to be an expert or have years of teaching experience. Everyone has something to offer and we can help you find the best way in which to help. Please reach out if you are interested.

Equipment Donation

Musical equipment is often expensive and inaccessible for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged communities.  Perhaps you have equipment that you’re no longer using or has been gathering dust? Why not make an equipment donation to the Open Music Lab community to help support our students.

Among other donations, we welcome: laptops and computers, audio interfaces, microphones, headphones, studio monitors, audio cables, microphone stands, pop filters, acoustic panels, CDJs/vinyl decks, handheld recorders, MIDI controllers/keyboards.

Contact us below if you’ve got equipment that needs a new home!

Philanthropy

By making a cash donation you will enable us to increase our impact and make a real difference to more musicians that face barriers of access and discrimination. Our plans for growth depend on philanthropic support and we hope you will be able to help us build a more equitable music world:  we appreciate all donations, big and small. You can choose to make a one-off donation or set up regular monthly or yearly contributions.

All donations go through our parent organisation,  Give Something Back to Berlin.

Press

We've had some great press coverage over the years. If you want to have a read, we've popped all of the links to the articles in a Google document.

We're always happy to talk to journalists or anyone looking to talk to us about our work. If you are interested in running a story about the OML, you can reach out to us at openmusiclab@gsbtb.org.

We are always looking for ways to connect and expand our community. Our main goal is to find ways to give back to the Berlin music community, while expanding its outreach to more vulnerable members and bridging the gap between diverse social and artistic backgrounds. We are interested in collaborating with like-minded charitable organisations, other schools with access to a range of equipment and professional recording studios. Does this sound like something you also care about? Feel free to reach out to us.

This is some of the most meaningful work I’ve ever done in my life, I love it, and I feel honoured to be a part of the Open Music Lab team.

OML has focused on bringing people together who have the passion and talent but face limitations to develop it. It's a community of support, enriched by its own cultural and musical diversity.
