Volunteer with us
Opening: Social Media Volunteer
We get many requests from people wanting to volunteer with us - thank you for your continued support. We’re now switching to posting volunteer vacancies that will complement our team and the work we need support with at the moment. First up - Social Media Volunteer!
We’re looking for someone to support us 3-5 hours per week (spread over at least two days) with drafting social media copy, scheduling posts and connecting with and collecting content from our community. You’d be working with our Content Manager and Head of Storytelling on getting our work and community out into the world of social media, helping us build our digital platform. It would be great if you had some professional experience with the major platforms (Instagram and Soundcloud are our main platforms, TikTok would be a great bonus), but this is not a must. We’re a small, friendly team and the well-being of our staff is really important to us. You’d be an equally important part of the team as those of us working more hours. You can work in our physical space with us or work entirely remotely.

Become a Music Mentor
We are always looking for friendly, passionate and patient people who have a good understanding of electronic music to join OML. You do not have to be an expert or have years of teaching experience. Everyone has something to offer and we can help you find the best way in which to help. Please reach out if you are interested.
Volunteer with us
Musical equipment is often expensive and inaccessible for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged communities. Perhaps you have equipment that you’re no longer using or has been gathering dust? Why not make an equipment donation to the Open Music Lab community to help support our students.
Among other donations, we welcome: laptops and computers, audio interfaces, microphones, headphones, studio monitors, audio cables, microphone stands, pop filters, acoustic panels, CDJs/vinyl decks, handheld recorders, MIDI controllers/keyboards.
Contact us below if you’ve got equipment that needs a new home!
By making a cash donation you will enable us to increase our impact and make a real difference to more musicians that face barriers of access and discrimination. Our plans for growth depend on philanthropic support and we hope you will be able to help us build a more equitable music world: we appreciate all donations, big and small. You can choose to make a one-off donation or set up regular monthly or yearly contributions.
All donations go through our parent organisation, Give Something Back to Berlin.
We've had some great press coverage over the years. If you want to have a read, we've popped all of the links to the articles in a Google document.
We're always happy to talk to journalists or anyone looking to talk to us about our work. If you are interested in running a story about the OML, you can reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Partner with us
We are always looking for ways to connect and expand our community. Our main goal is to find ways to give back to the Berlin music community, while expanding its outreach to more vulnerable members and bridging the gap between diverse social and artistic backgrounds. We are interested in collaborating with like-minded charitable organisations, other schools with access to a range of equipment and professional recording studios. Does this sound like something you also care about? Feel free to reach out to us.
What the community says
Mary Anne Hobbs, BBC6 Music
This is some of the most meaningful work I’ve ever done in my life, I love it, and I feel honoured to be a part of the Open Music Lab team.

OML has focused on bringing people together who have the passion and talent but face limitations to develop it. It's a community of support, enriched by its own cultural and musical diversity.
